KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 -- Two visitors marvelling at the splendour of the centuries-old Ummayad Mosque in Damascus, said to be one of the largest and most beautiful examples of Islamic architecture.Many of the faithful and tourists alike could be seen browsing at the many stalls selling religious items along the narrow lane leading up to the mosque, which was completed in 715 AD following the Muslim conquest of Damascus, with a prayer hall, vast courtyard and hundreds of rooms for visiting pilgrims as well as three minarets of splendour.-- fotoBERNAMA COPYRIGHT RESERVED
