KUCHING, May 17 -- Sitting atop a hill on the banks of the Sarawak River at Pangkalan Sapi, any visitor to Kuching city will hardly miss Sarawak's latest architectural icon, the new State Legislative Assembly complex with its distinctive "payung' roof.The RM300 million landmark, which can sit up to 108 state assemblymen, each having their own office, is scheduled to be officially opened by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin on July 27 this year.It will be used on time for the Conference of Rulers to be held here from July 28-29 as well as the new venue for future legislative assembly sittings, starting later this year.-- fotoBERNAMA COPYRIGHTS RESERVED
