SINGAPORE, May 30 -- The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, United States of America, Admiral Michael G. Mullen was conferred SingaporeÕs Highest Military award Distinguished Service Order (Military) "the Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang" (Tentera) by President S. R. Nathan at the Istana here, Friday. The Distinguished Service Order (Military) was warded to Admiral Mullen in recognition of his significant contributions toward enhancing the excellent ties between the United States Armed Forces and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).Under Admiral MullenÕs leadership, both armed forces have embarked on new areas of co-operation, such as counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, counter-terrorism and maritime security.--fotoBERNAMA COPYRIGHT RESERVED
